Safely and properly disposing expired or unused pharmaceuticals is a major issue in the waste industry. Improperly disposing of pharmaceuticals can lead to polluting sources of drinking water, damage to local environments and wildlife, and abuse of unused pharmaceuticals. Currently there is no state wide collection program, but many individual towns throughout the state have safe disposal programs (typically at local PD offices).
The Citizens’ Campaign for the Environment has made a detailed map of disposal locations throughout the state, follow the attached link to see what location is nearest to you. Please visit their website for more information on recycling and waste disposal.
