Timothy “Tim” O’Brien was elected mayor of the City of New Britain in November 2011. Prior to his election, he served as a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, where he represented the 24th Assembly District (which includes New Britain and Newington) since 2003 and served as assistant majority leader. Prior to seeking elected office at the state level, O’Brien worked for several years (1994-2001) as a House legislative aide. He also served as an alderman on the New Britain Common Council from 1997 to 2003. O’Brien, and his wife, Rhona Cohen, have two children.
