
Lifelong Washington resident Mark Lyon was elected first selectman in November 2007 after serving for two years on the Board of Selectman and for five years on the Board of Finance. Lyon’s service to his community also includes nearly three decades with the Washington Volunteer Fire Department – including seven years as chief – and participation on the Washington Primary School Task Force and the Shepaug Valley High School Parent Council. While serving as Washington’s first selectman, Lyon will be on a leave of absence from his position as a maintenance supervisor for Kimberly-Clark in New Milford, where he has worked for 29 years. He and his wife, Lillian, have three children: Sarah, Mark and David, and a grandson, Travis.
