Southington Town Manager Garry Brumback has been chosen to serve on the Executive Committee of the Bristol Resource Recovery Facility Operating Committee (BRRFOC), the regional organization responsible for the safe and cost-effective disposal of municipal solid waste generated in the fourteen member towns and cities it represents. Brumback, who became Southington's representative when he became town manager in January 2011, will serve on the Executive Committee with Bristol Mayor/BRRFOC President Arthur Ward, Wolcott Mayor/BRRFOC Vice President Thomas G. Dunn; Branford First Selectman/BRRFOC Secretary Anthony J. “Unk” DaRos; and Berlin Town Manager/BRRFOC Treasurer Denise McNair. Plainville Town Manager Robert E. Lee, who served as BRRFOC president in 2009 and 2010, and Mayor Tim O'Brien of New Britain, also were named to the Executive Subcommittee, which now has seven members, the maximum allowed.
“We are very pleased that Garry Brumback has agreed to join us on the Executive Committee,” said BRRFOC President Arthur Ward. “In just a year’s time, Garry has distinguished himself as a knowledgeable and highly productive member of the board. His input will be invaluable as we review the many important issues that we bring before the entire board, including the long-term strategic planning initiative we are currently developing. Southington's collection system is unique in the region. We look forward to working with Garry and the Town of Southington as we explore new regional arrangements that work efficiently with Southington's collection system.
