Environmentally Sound Waste Management
The sole mission of the Bristol Resource Recovery Operating Committee is to represent Bristol Facility Policy Board’s fourteen communities in administering their municipal solid waste disposal process in the safest and most cost effective manner possible.
In carrying our mission, we strive to:
- improve the environment
- effectively fulfill our municipal responsibility for garbage and recycling
- minimize costs to our member communities
Electronic Waste Recycling
Tunxis Recycling has been assisting its member communities with recycling unwanted residential electronic devices since 2003, with over 6,500 participants delivering nearly 360 tons collected at the annual events, held in conjunction with General Electric and the Town of Plainville.
On June 1, 2010 the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEEP) promulgated regulations for the Recycling of “Covered Electronic Devices” (computers, televisions, printers and related items). Beginning January 1, 2011, these electronic devices shall not knowingly be disposed in any solid waste facility. Municipalities will be submitting plans to DEEP describing how residents will be provided with convenient, accessible options for recycling.
