TROC has been assisting its member communities with recycling unwanted residential electronic devices since 2003, with over 6,500 participants delivering nearly 360 tons collected at the annual events, held in conjunction with General Electric and the Town of Plainville.

On June 1, 2010 the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) promulgated regulations for the Recycling of "Covered Electronic Devices" (computers, televisions, printers and related items). Beginning January 1, 2011, these electronic devices shall not knowingly be disposed in any solid waste facility. Municipalities will be submitting plans to DEP describing how residents will be provided with convenient, accessible options for recycling.
